#Taiwan’s exclusion from the WHO drew a lot of international attention in the wake of the #COVID19 outbreak, ultimately leading to the organization finally allowing Taiwanese experts to take part in a recent closed-door meeting. We’d like to thank the 127 parliamentarians from 14 European countries, #CzechRepublic, #Lithuania, #Estonia, #Germany, the #Netherlands, #Ireland, #Austria, #Slovakia, #Hungary, #Spain, #Italy, the #UK, #Latvia and #Portugal, who also signed letters to WHO director-general, Tedros Adhanom, calling for Taiwan's inclusion in the organization. 71 Czech deputies and senators, including Chamber of Deputies deputy speakers Petr Fiala and Vojtěch Pikal and the chair of the senate committee on foreign affairs, defence and security, Pavel Fischer, signed the letter.
We'd like to thank the Riksdag members from #Sweden who have spoken up on the issue on several occasions. We also noticed that the Taiwan-Sweden Parliamentary Friendship Group has submitted 5 written questions and 4 oral questions requesting action on Taiwan's exclusion from the WHO. Foreign minister Ann Linde responded saying the government will work with the EU to support Taiwan's accession to the organization.
